Brief History of the Department:

• The Chemistry department was started with the inception of the college in the year 1982.
• The department has been headed by Sri. Shashidharaiah S. B. (1982 – 2018), H S Mallikarjunappa (2018 – 2020), Sri. Jayashankar (2020 – 2023), Sri. T B Nijalingappa (2023 – 2024).
• The Chemistry department is one of the biggest departments among the science stream in the college.
• The department consists of four well experienced and dedicated faculty members and two lab assistants. The department has two well equipped laboratories.
• The department has one department library with 67 books related to chemistry subject and general studies. Students are accessible to make use of these books.
• The department uses special aids such as charts, models for teaching & learning activities.
• The department has employed innovative teaching concepts through ICT. Besides, the department has internet facilities to update the knowledge among both teachers & students.
• The department is organizing special lectures periodically from the eminent Scholars for the benefit of students and faculty. The department is conducting quiz competitions on chemistry subject, conducting seminars by students, and conducting industrial and study tours to create interest in subject.
